Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) - US Highway 67 Widening
The design and construction of this project is being managed by Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
Construction began in September 2017 on the widening of US 67, from Belt Line Road to IH-20, to provide congestion relief and
operations improvements to the US 67 corridor. The six-mile project includes widening of the existing 4-lane roadway to a
6-lane roadway and the installation of Texas U-turns at FM 1382 and at Belt Line Road.
The project is scheduled to be completed in 2021.

Ramp and Lane Closure Information
Wintergreen and Duncanville Roads Intersection Improvements
This is a partnership project with Dallas County, and the funding partners include Cedar Hill, Duncanville, DeSoto, TxDOT and Regional Toll Revenue. Construction for this project will be managed by Dallas County Public Works.
The scope of work for this project will be implemented in two phases.
- Phase I - Limits from Main Street intersection to 900 feet south along Duncanville Road include intersection improvements, roadway widening, trail, sidewalks, lighting, and drainage improvements.
- Phase II - Wintergreen Road improvements beginning at Phase I terminus to Cockrell Hill Road are in the construction phase.
This project was awarded January 2019 and construction on Phase I began August 2019. Phase II construction is scheduled to begin by the end of September 2020. The roadway construction is anticipated to be complete July 2021.

Signal Light on S. Joe Wilson Road at Weaver Street
Installation of a new traffic signal light at the intersection of S. Joe Wilson Road and Weaver Street. The construction contract was awarded in September 2020 and construction began in November 2020.
Lake Ridge Parkway Storage Tank
- The project scope includes the construction of a 16-inch water line and a 2.0 MG storage tank.
- Alignment for the water line is being finalized. Project design is 30% complete. This project is not funded for construction at this time.
Southwest Water Transmission Pipeline
- This is a Dallas Water Utilities project and a portion of it is within the City of Cedar Hill, from western city limit to U.S. 67, along Wintergreen Road.
- Project design is in the preliminary phase.
Cedar Hill Road Water Line Replacement, Phase 1
- Replacement of an 8" water main along Cedar Hill Road from northern City limits to Wintergreen Road.
- Includes the asphalt reconstruction of Cedar Hill Road.
- Project design is in the preliminary phase.
Downtown Street Reconstruction, Phase 1 & 2
- Implement Phase 1 & 2 Street Improvements as identified in the Downtown Complete Streets Plan.
- Project design is in the preliminary phase.
Signal Light at Wintergreen Road and New Clark Road
- Installation of a new traffic signal ight at the intersection of Wintergreen Road and New Clark Road.
- Project is jointly funded by the City and North Central Council of Governments through grant funds.
- Project is currently in design phase.
US Hwy 67 Landscaping Project
- Provide landscaping and hardscaping on the US Hwy 67 corridor.
- Partnership with TxDOT Green Ribbon Program.
- Landscaping will be focused at the northern City limits and the intersection of US Hwy 67 and FM 1382.
- Project design is complete.
- Currently advertised for construction bids.
N. Joe Wilson Road Improvements at US Hwy 67
- Widening of N. Joe Wilson Road to accommodate a right turn lane north of US Hwy 67
- Project design is complete.
- Working with Franchise Utilities to relocate infrastructure.
- Currently awaiting construction bids.
Lorch Park Water Line
- Construct new 8" and 12" water lines across Lester Lorch Park to improve service in the area.
- Project is currently in design phase with consultant and easement acquisition and coordination with Dallas County.
Lorch Park Sewer Line
- Construct new 10" gravity sanitary sewer line across Lester Lorch Park.
- Project is currently in design phase with consultant and easement acquisition and coordination with Dallas County.
Red Oak 7 Sewer Line
- Extend sanitary sewer service to the commercial lots along US Hwy 67 and eventually extend gravity sewer to the American Lift Station, allowing decommission of the existing lift station.
- Project is currently in design phase.
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Projects
The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program is a flexible program that provides communities with resources to address a wide range of unique community development needs. Cities may use their CDBG funds to undertake a wide variety of activities such as, reconstructing roads, installing water lines, building playgrounds, demolishing substandard structures, making buildings ADA-accessible, etc., as long as the projects meet federal requirements.
CDBG (FY 2018)
Hickerson Street Sanitary Sewer Replacement and Street Rehabilitation Project
On August 27, 2019, Cedar Hill City Council authorized and agreement with Dallas County for FY 2018 CDBG Program Funding. This agreement provides CDBG funding for the replacement of the sanitary sewer main in the 300 block of Hickerson Street. The City executed an Engineering design contract with Dunaway Associates on October 10, 2019, to develop Engineering design and construction plans for the sewer line replacement. Staff made the recommendation to include street improvements using the FY2020 CDBG funds and available Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) funds for public improvements to fund the project. On July 28, 2020, City Council approved use of these funds for this project. The project will include construction of 1,024 linear feet of 8" sanitary sewer main and replacement of asphalt pavement on Hickerson Street. Construction began January 2021 and is estimated to be complete by spring 2021.
Bear Creek Road Reconstruction
- Reconstruction of Bear Creek Road from Joe Wilson Road to Cockrell Hill Road.
- Construction began in January 2020 and was completed in March 2020.
Texas Street / Hardy Street Drainage Improvements Project
- Installation of an underground drainage system to capture storm water at Texas Street and Hardy Street and tie into the underground system at Belt Line Road.
- Construction began July 2020 and was completed December 2020.
Robin Road Water Line Replacement
- Replace existing water line with a new 8" water line along the south end of Robin Road.
- Construction began July 2020 and was completed December 2020.
