Most importantly, HAVE FUN!

Earth Hour Ideas

Earth Hour Idea 02Switch off your lights – This is the easiest way to participate! Simply switch off all non-essential lights for an hour!

Themed movie night – Get the popcorn ready! Some suggestions: Wall-E (Disney+), Our Planet (Netflix), Ken Burns: The Dust Bowl (Amazon), & Dr. Seuss: The Lorax (Hulu).

Dinner-in-the-dark – Enjoy a locally sourced or homemade dinner under candlelight!

Family games in candlelight – A game of Monopoly, Sorry!, Catan, or Scrabble is even better in candlelight!

Earth Hour Idea 01Backyard or living room camping – We challenge you to turn your back garden or living room into your very own camping space! Don’t have an actual tent? Make one with bedsheets, pillows, and other household items! Then turn off the lights, grab some flashlights, and have fun!

Eco-friendly fashion show – Take on a fun and silly night of dressing up! Turn your living room into a runway and bond with your family. Unleash your creative side by making your own costume from recyclable materials.

Have a silent disco – Grab a pair of headphones and groove to your own favorite music! Take it up a notch by battling it out with your family and friends in a silent disco and claim dance floor supremacy.

Earth Hour Idea 03Shadow puppet play – Switch off all of the lights and put on a shadow puppet play! Cut out different shapes of animals, setup a stage using cloth and light and let the shadows come to life!

Flashlight indoor scavenger hunt – Treat your young ones to a thrilling scavenger hunt! Turn off the lights, and hide items around the house (candy and chocolate are great incentives!) Challenge your young ones to find all the hidden items within a certain time limit, using only a flashlight!
