Owner Surrenders

If you are needing to surrender a pet not only do we have great resources on our website here to help the possibility of  you keeping your pet, but you can also check out rehome.adoptapet.com for additional support. If you are still needing to surrender your pet after reviewing our pet help resources, no worries. We only take surrenders from our three cities (Cedar Hill, DeSoto, & Duncanville). If your pet was adopted from another facility or shelter you may be contractually obliged to return the pet to that adoption facility.

Tri-City is asking that all owners interested in surrendering their pet to first make an appointment. You can schedule an appointment by calling 972-293-7387. Required documents and identification will need to be emailed to tricities@cedarhilltx.com.

Required Documentation

If you are unable to find or send over required documentation or identification let our staff know! We will be happy to assist.

Lost/ Found

If you are missing a lost pet our animal population can be viewed 24/7.  We will also take lost reports over the phone. If you have found a pet and wish to hold on to it temporarily you may call in to leave a found report or set up to get the pet scanned for a microchip. Tri-City holds impounded animals for 72 hours for owner reclaim. After 72 hours the pet is evaluated and may be put up for adoption, transferred to another facility, or humanely euthanized.

TAHC COVID19 FAQ Opens in new windowThe American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and US Department of Agriculture (USDA) along with the World Health Organization (WHO) and Center for Disease Control (CDC), continue to state there is no evidence that a dog, cat, or other domestic animal can transmit COVID-19 to humans. Out of an abundance of caution, all of these sources recommend thoroughly washing your hands after coming into contact with a pet and to minimize your interaction with domestic animals if you are positive for COVID-19. We are closely monitoring updates from these reliable sources and will continue to keep our citizens informed.
