May 6, 2023 General Election Information updated March 1, 2023

The City Secretary has certified the applications of the following candidates running for City Council Places 2 and 6. 

drawing to determine the order that candidate names will appear on the ballot will be held at 5pm on Monday, February 27, 2023 in Conference Room D located in the Cedar Hill Government Center, 285 Uptown Blvd., Bldg. 100, Cedar Hill, TX 75104.  The results of the drawing are reflected below.

On February 14, 2023, the City Council issued an Order of Election for the May 6, 2023 to elect Council Places 2 and 6.  

Dallas County Voter Information

Voter Registration 

The deadline to register and be eligible to vote in the May 6, 2023 General Election is Thursday, April 6, 2023.  This can be either the postmark date or the date the application is received by the Office of the Voter Registrar in the county you reside.  More information can also be obtained from the Dallas County Elections Department.

Early Voting

Early voting will take place on the following dates and times at the Alan E. Sims/Cedar Hill Recreation Center, 310 E. Parkerville Rd., Cedar Hill, TX 75104 and other designated vote center locations throughout Dallas Co.   Click here for a list of Dallas Co. vote center locations.  

  • Monday, April 24, 2023 through  Friday, April 28, 2023 from 8:00am-5:00pm 
  • Saturday, April 29, 2023 from 8:00am-5:00pm
  • Sunday, April 30, 2023 from NOON-6:00pm
  • Monday, May 1, 2023 and Tuesday, May 2, 2023 from 7:00am-7:00pm 

Election Day Voting 

Election Day voting will take place 7, on Saturday, May 6, 2023, from 7:00 am to 7:00pm at the Alan E. Sims/Cedar Hill Recreation Center, 310 E. Voter Registration

  • No voting on Sunday, April 30, 2023
  • Monday, May 1, 2023 and Tuesday, May 2, 2023 from 7:00am-7:00pm

Application packets will be available for pick-up on January 6, 2023 in the City Secretary's Office, located on the 4th Floor of the Cedar Hill Government Center, 285 Uptown Blvd., Bldg. 100, Cedar Hill, TX 75104.     E-application packets are also available; to request an application packet be sent via email click here.

The first day to file an application for a place on the ballot is January 18, 2023.  The deadline to file an application for a place on the ballot is 5pm on February, 17, 2023.

Candidate Eligibility Requirements 

  • Must be a United States Citizen.
  • Must be a registered voter on the date of the election.
  • A candidate must have been a resident of the state for 12 months and are resident of the City for 6 months preceding the date of the regular filing.
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Have not been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be totally mentally incapacitated; or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.
  • Have not been finally convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities.
  • Must satisfy any other requirements prescribed by law for the office.
  • Candidates must be nominated by a petition per the City Charter and state law; petition must be signed by at least 25 registered voters of the City.
  • Application and Petition Forms must be filed together by the filing deadline.
