Common Code Violations

Tall Grass

City Ordinance require that weeds and grass be kept below 12 inches in height, and that trimmings are not allowed to accumulate on any public street, sidewalk or other public way. Weeds and grass shall not be deposited in any inlet, manhole, or storm sewer or sanitary sewer system.

Fence

All fences shall be maintained so as to comply with the following requirements:

The fence shall not be out of vertical alignment more than 25 degrees.
Any and all broken, damaged, removed or missing parts of said fences shall be replaced within seven days with the same material, size, shape and quality of the original fence to which the repair is being made.
Fences shall be externally braced in lieu of replacing or repairing posts, columns or other structural members.

Trash & Debris

All exterior property areas shall be maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary condition, free from accumulations of rubbish, garbage, junk or waste which constitutes a public nuisance, or which are contrary to the public health, safety or welfare.

Parking on Unimproved Surfaces

No vehicle shall be parked in the front or side yards at any time, except on a driveway or on an improved surface such as concrete.

Junk or Inoperable Vehicles

Property will be maintained free of junk or inoperable vehicles. A junk motor vehicle is any vehicle that is inoperative and remains inoperative for more than 30 days or is inoperative and does not have a current registration sticker or inspection sticker.

A junk vehicle is also any vehicle which is wrecked, dismantled or discarded. These vehicles may not be visible from the public view, public right-of-way or street.

Oversized Vehicles

Oversized vehicles may not be parked or stored in any residential neighborhood. An oversized vehicle is a truck-tractor, semi-trailer, trailer, bus, oversized commercial vehicle or any commercial motor vehicle with a rated capacity in excess of one ton.

Outside Storage

Section 9-26(p) states it shall be unlawful for any person to allow any outside storage, outside of an enclosed structure, for a continuous period of in excess of seven days.
