The beautiful Balcones Escarpment, a natural dividing line between east and west Texas, is home to a unique mix of flora and fauna. A number of nature preserves are located in and near the city, including:

Sports Tournaments
Dozens of local, regional and national sport tournaments are hosted on the City's well developed, immaculately manicured athletic fields. Excellent weather means few rainouts for soccer, softball, football and baseball tournaments that attract thousands of youth and adult players and their families.

For the less fleet of foot, there is golf at a local championship course, miniature golf and even one of North Texas' finest disc golf courses.Unique terrain in the area has attracted a lot of attention from cyclists and the hills of Cedar Hill challenge hundreds during local bike events.

The Head for The Hills Bike Rally, sponsored by the local Rotary Club, drew over 1,000 cyclists for its debut event featuring 20-mile, 40-mile and 60-mile courses through the "Hill Country of the Metroplex."  This event benefits the Cedar Hill Food Pantry, Bridges Safehouse Shelter, Zula B. Wylie public library, Brighter Tomorrows and the Cedar Hill Education Foundation.

The national Toyota US Open Triathlon (swimming/biking/running) was attracted to Cedar Hill by the unique combination of natural features, terrain and the hospitality of the people in our community.

A Shopping and Dining Magnet
Between games take time to explore the great shopping in the retail magnet of southwest Dallas County. In the last few years Cedar Hill has added 2.9 million square feet of retail space.

Having fun on the fields and in the shops can really work up an appetite. How lucky that virtually every cuisine is offered in Cedar Hill's broad range of fine dining establishments and local eateries. It's even more pleasant knowing you can play, relax and enjoy your time in one of the safest cities in the Metroplex.
