April 7&8, 2016, Clarion conducts site visit and interview
Clarion, the consultants hired by the city to help draft new zoning regulations, conducted a site visit where they meet with the city project managers, staff, and other officials to discuss overall project goals and to finalize the project work plan and schedule. The team also facilitated intensive discussions of zoning and land development issues with city staff, elected and appointed officials, Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC), other boards and commissions, and key stakeholders (e.g. developers, neighborhood groups, realtors, etc.) to get a clear understanding of how the community desires the new districts to be developed.
March 31, 2015, City Council Briefing on Implementation of the City Center Plan
Rod Tyler, Planning Director, conducted a briefing to City Council on implementing the adopted City Center Development Plan. The implementation of the City Center Plan revolves around 4 equally important areas: Regulatory Actions, Economic/Financing Strategies, Communication/Marketing and Projects.As a high priority action, the City will update its current regulations and policy documents to incorporate the Development Plan’s concepts. In regards to financing, the City will review all funding sources and partners in order to collectively work to achieve the desired results. It’s imperative for the City to communicate and facilitate development opportunities within the City Center area. Lastly, the City will identify and prioritize a list of catalytic public and private projects to encourage City Center investment.
The staff reviewed the Committee's Objective, progress the Committee has made, the Committee's Plan Recommendations and the Next Step - Code Audit. Smart Growth America Code Audit is audits of local land use codes with respect to sustainability topics/issues. The Committee selected 4 focus topics. They were: community health, urban agriculture, housing diversity and green infrastructure and water quality. A copy of the presentation is available online.

Committee discuss additions, changes and elimination of the Draft Plan and then discussed adoption.
February 13, 2014, Review & Continued Sticky Note Discussion Meeting
In this city Center meeting, the committee members jotted down things they liked most and least about the plan and placed them on the wall under the headings of Historic Downtown, Midtown, and Uptown. Then notes of similar content were grouped together and discussed by the committee. Also discussed potential City Center Capital Projects. You can download a copy of that presentation here.

At the last City Center meeting, Staff reviewed major elements of previous meetings over the last year. The committee members jotted down things they liked most and least about the plan and placed them on the wall under the headings of Historic Downtown, Midtown, and Uptown. Then notes of similar content were grouped together and discussed by the committee.
These discussions lead to some very interesting incites. Unfortunately, we did not get finished so we need to pick-up where we left off. On the bright side, this also opens up the opportunity for all to add to your list and discuss at our February meeting.
